A family have arrived

Salma and family, originally from Sudan but have been refugees in Cairo for the last seven years, arrived in the UK in mid-April. They are settling in well.

We are delighted to announce that the Home Office has approved our application to become community sponsors and we are looking forward to welcoming a family from South Sudan in April.
Our purpose
We are a predominantly Christian group who have signed up for the government’s Community Sponsorship scheme, which enables local communities to welcome one refugee family into their midst by sponsoring them not only financially but on a practical level too.
What’s involved
This initiative is part of the wider UNHCR refugee relocation programme and the family is carefully selected by them. For two years we undertake to support a family fleeing life in a refugee camp to hopefully a better life here in Saffron Walden by sourcing suitable housing and helping with employment, education, integration, and much more.
