Private Tour at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge
Reading Paintings – A Private Tour of the Fitzwilliam Museum with Cambridge Art Tours for up to 12 people. The Fitzwilliam Museum is home to the most important collections of art and antiquities in East Anglia but how much do we know about the treasures it holds? Who was the reclusive benefactor after whom the museum is named? Which of its directors “found it a pigsty and turned it into a palace”? Why did Cézanne’s “Apples” get hidden in a Sussex hedge? Find out the answer to these questions and spend some time ‘reading paintings’ during a private tour of the museum with Sarah Burles of Cambridge Art Tours. Sarah studied History of Art at Cambridge University before working in museums and galleries, including at the Fitzwilliam Museum, for many years. She is the founder of Cambridge Art Tours which offers tours and visits to art collections in and around Cambridge. Sarah is also an accredited Arts Society lecturer and a tour director for Ace Cultural Tours.
